For over 10 years, I've worked for startups, big tech, and design agencies focusing on craft, users' needs, and getting work out the door.

More about me

I started my career as an art director working for branding and ad agencies like Geometry Global, Ogilvy, and McCann. Once I realized the ad agency model wasn't for me, I moved in-house to marketing design at Uber, and eventually over to UX where I worked on transformational new experiences like peer-to-peer package delivery, in-app gift cards, and rental cars.

I'm now at Found, designing solutions like contractor payments to empower the self-employed. I really wanted to learn what it takes to build and grow an early stage startup and was hired as employee #20. I've touched nearly every part of the product experience in the last 3.5 years.

UX design is the intersection between understanding what people need and working with folks who can build those solutions. I'm a firm believer in UX research, talking to customers, open discussion with PM and Eng partners, prototyping, and final QA.

When I'm not designing things for work, I'm busy tickling two small kids, building cabinets for our mid-century home, salmon fishing, and wishing I had more time for skiing the volcanos of the west coast.

Experience

UX design | Found
2021 — Present

  • As employee #20, I've covered a wide range of projects, including early-days UX design like login experiences, design systems, PIN entry, and more.

  • I've worked on many anti-fraud experiences, like account limits and 2FA, saving Found hundreds of thousands of dollars in fraud-loss.

  • Eventually I transitioned to lead designer on the Growth Product team which includes user onboarding, referrals, and payments experiences.

  • I'm currently filling in on the marketing team, covering static and animated paid ads, social media posts, SEO content articles, landing pages, and email campaigns.

UX design | Uber
2018 — 2021

  • My last role was lead UX designer for Uber's rental car pilot program in partnership with Avis. I also worked on Uber gift cards as part of the Uber Money org as well as Uber Connect, the zero-to-one package delivery product.

  • Before that, I was a UX designer on the internal tools team designing tools for the marketing org. These included Uber’s CMS website builder, CRM campaign audience manager, and email template/design tools.

Marketing design | Uber
2016 — 2018

  • Preceding my UX roles, I was a designer on the central CRM team, designing comms for Uber ridesharing, Uber Eats, and Uber Freight and email templates for dozens of city teams around the world.

  • While in marketing, I planned and art directed photoshoots in San Francisco and Los Angeles for Uber Eats marketing collateral. Great fun!
